History

Independent Butterflies Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization youth program serving youth ages 7-17 in the Fort Myers area. The mission of Independent Butterflies is to promote and empower our youth to become responsible, confident, and self-worthy young adults with social awareness. Central to our mission is to provide our youth with mentorship relationships that assist and support them on their path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

 

Independent Butterflies Inc. is a program that was created as a direct response to the growing number of our youth that are falling through the cracks in their communities. Through repeated failures in the community and the development of destructive habits, at-risk youth have lost faith in the possibilities that await them. The goal of the Independent Butterflies Inc. program is to identify girls and boys who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer them a positive support system to help avoid pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus on mentorship support in addition to our educational and vocational support programs collectively focuses on the same goal- to empower the young ladies and gentlemen to make positive changes in their lives.

 

Independent Butterflies Inc. helps the girls and boys to see their potential by empowering them through supportive networks that help them to understand that they can be successful in life. To accomplish this goal, the girls and boys must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect.
